Frequently asked questions

Which CE Course Do I Need?

If you’ve held your Texas barbering or cosmetology license for fewer than 15 years, you need the 4-Hour CE Course: 1 hour of sanitation, 2 hours of barbering/cosmetology-related topics, and 1 hour of human trafficking prevention.

If you’ve held your Texas license for 15 years or more, you need the 2-Hour CE Course: 1 hour of sanitation and 1 hour of human trafficking prevention.

If you hold both barbering and cosmetology licenses, CE completed for one satisfies the other. To qualify for the 2-hour requirement, both licenses must have been held for 15+ years.

When Are My CE Hours Reported to TDLR?

We report completed courses to TDLR within 24 hours of completion.

TDLR allows CE providers up to seven days to submit completed course reports. My CE Space uses a 24-hour reporting standard so your information is submitted sooner.

Your certificate is available after you successfully complete your course.

What's Included in the 4-Hour CE Course?

Our 4-Hour course goes beyond checking the box for license renewal.

You’ll complete the Texas-required 1 hour of Sanitation, 1 hour of Human Trafficking Prevention, and 2 hours of approved related topics, with practical business and marketing skills you can actually use.

You'll learn about:

🦠 Advanced Infection Control & Salon Sanitation
🚨 Human Trafficking Prevention
📈 Marketing your beauty business
⭐ Google Business Profile optimization
📸 Before-and-after marketing
💬 Reviews and referrals
📱 Social media content
📧 Client reactivation and email marketing
🤖 AI search and online visibility
🎯 A 30-Day Marketing Roadmap you can actually follow

You'll leave with more than CE hours, you'll leave with ideas you can put to work in your business.

What's Included in the 2-Hour CE Course?

Texas recognizes the experience you've built over the years.

If you've held your license for 15 years or more, you only need the two state-required topics:

🦠 Infection Control & Salon Sanitation
🚨 Human Trafficking Prevention

This course is designed specifically for experienced professionals who qualify for the 2-hour CE requirement. It’s straightforward, current, and respects the experience you’ve already built.

Do I Have to Take Quizzes, Tests, or Read?

Nope.

Texas requires you to complete the approved continuing education content and required instructional time. TDLR does not require quizzes or exams for Barbering and Cosmetology CE.

With My CE Space, you can watch, listen, or read through the course content. Reading is one option, not a requirement.

Complete the required course content and time in the format that works best for you.

When Will I Receive My Certificate?

Your certificate is available immediately after you complete your course.

You can download it, print it, or save a copy for your records.

TDLR requires you to keep your certificate for two years, even after your CE hours have been reported.
